What’s New in the 2023 Hyundai Kona
Sporty, Attractive, and Well-Equipped Subcompact Crossover
Hyundai continues to deliver an impressive collection of cars, trucks, and SUVs with fuel-efficient powertrains and standard safety features – like the 2023 Kona. This sporty and attractive subcompact SUV is available with two internal-combustion engine options and a fully-electric model. To add to the excitement of the new model year release, Hyundai upgraded the turbocharged engine.
What’s Under the Hood
Kia offers several powertrain options for the 2023 Kona. The first is the standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 147 horsepower. The second is a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 195 horsepower. The latest addition to the Kona lineup is the 2023 Hyundai Kona N with a turbocharged 2.0-liter with a zipper 276 horsepower. The Kona N differs from the 2023 Hyundai Kona N-Line which includes the 1.6-liter engine and upgraded styling features like alloy wheels and sport seats.
Shoppers can also select the 2023 Hyundai Kona Electric with a single electric motor and 64-kWh battery pack that produces 201 horsepower. All models come standard with front-wheel drive and an available all-wheel-drive system. The N and Electric models are only available with front-wheel drive.
When it comes to fuel efficiency, the best choice is the Kona Electric, which has an EPA-estimated driving range of 258 miles, which translates to 120 MPGe. The Kona N has an EPA-estimated fuel rating of 20/27 MPG, while the standard Kona engine achieves an EPA-estimated fuel-economy rating of 30/35 MPG.
Upgrades in the 2023 Kona
The 2023 Kona carries over the features from the redesigned 2022 model year but with a few new technology upgrades. For convenience, Hyundai added available over-the-air map updates to reduce the time owners spend in the service center updating their navigation system. The other upgrades include Blind Spot Collision Avoidance, Rear Cross-Traffic Collisions Avoidance, and Safe Exit Warning as standard features on all Kona trims.
Standard Features in the Kona
Despite being a subcompact SUV, the 2023 Hyundai Kona interior is loaded with features. The base SE trim has an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, two USB ports, and a six-speaker stereo. The driving-assistance features include Forward Collision Warning, Forward Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Following Assist, and Driver Drowsiness Warning.
The top Limited trim includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, an eight-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and more USB ports.
