2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Safety and Technology
Affordable, Well-Equipped, and Spacious Midsize SUV
The five-passenger 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe is a fuel-efficient, roomy, and well-equipped SUV. In typical Hyundai style, the Santa Fe also has the cutting-edge 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. The automaker also fills the affordable SUV with technology and safety features that many higher-priced makes and models don’t have.
Standard High-Tech Features
The high-tech features begin under the hood, as the Hyundai Santa Fe has two standard internal-combustion engine options: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder. The SE and SEL trims have the standard engine with 191 horsepower, while the turbocharged engine in the Limited and Calligraphy delivers 281 horses.
Hyundai also offers the Santa Fe as a plug-in hybrid pairing the turbocharged four-cylinder with an electric motor for 261 horsepower. Buyers can also choose a mild hybrid with a similar configuration but with 226 horsepower. All models have standard front-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive is available.
Despite the engine and trim, Hyundai Santa Fe technology is impressive. The base SE trim comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and four USB ports. Moving to the SEL trim, drivers get HD Radio and Wireless Device Charging, and they can add the Premium Package with a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, and a 12-speaker audio system.
The top Calligraphy trim has a Head-Up Display, and all trims get convenient over-the-air (OTA) map updates.
Keeping Drivers and Passengers Safe
Hyundai also includes an impressive amount of driver-assistance features. The base SE trim has a Rearview Camera, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Automatic High-Beam LED Headlights, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Driver Drowsiness Monitoring.
Available safety features on top trims and special packages include Highway Driving Assist with Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, Remote Smart Parking Assist, a Surround-View Parking Camera System with Blind Spot View, and a Head-Up Display. The Remote Smart Parking Assist lets drivers stand outside and use their key fob to park their Santa Fe SUVs with the push of a button.
While the 2023 Santa Fe hasn’t been rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe has. The previous model year earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating.
